Skin Rejuvenation

Fill out those frown lines and firm up those facial expressions. Excessive sun exposure, stressful lifestyles and everyday smog and smoke can all lead to premature aging, but if you’re not ready to give up your youth just yet, Skin Rejuvenation gives you the ability to turn back time (in a non superhero way). By using IPL and Chemical Peel you’ll be able to prune and perfect skin that’s limp and lack-lustre in no time. Using IPL and Chemical Peels IPL and Chemical Peels you’ll be able to prune and perfect skin that’s limp and lack-lustre in no time.

How does it work?

It might sound futuristic but by directing IPL and Chemical Peels  onto the skin, the heat and energy produced by IPL and Chemical Peels stimulates the production of collagen, which is what gives skin its natural texture and firmness. The collagen targeted then responds by renewing itself and producing new skin cells which help to minimise blemishes, thicken skin and plump out scars and fine lines.

Before the IPL and Chemical Peel skin treatments start to work their magic, a local anaesthetic cream may be applied to desensitise those delicate areas and you’ll also be asked to wear eye shields (for IPL) to protect your peepers from the high intensity rays. Once the pulses commence, you’ll experience a sharp, tingling sensation, but cold air or cooling spray is used continually throughout the treatment to numb the skin.

Immediately after the procedure is over you’ll find that the treated areas will discolour and swell, especially around the eyes, so don’t have the treatment before you head off on the holiday of a lifetime, or at least invest in some dark sunglasses if you are. To help subside the swelling and prevent scabs from forming, you’ll be given an ointment to apply and after 2 to 3 days your skin should start to repair itself naturally. Although the redness may persist for a longer period of time, you should easily be able to camouflage it with some clever concealer usage.

Despite the treatment taking up no more time than a lunch break, the improvements could take up to 3 months to fully develop as the collagen keeps building during this time and will subtly fill out the top layers of skin, so don’t be disappointed if you don’t get instant gratification. As expected, the more treatments you have, the quicker results you’ll see, and normally a series of 5 – 6 is recommended.

It’s also important to use a sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays and to avoid direct sun exposure for at least three to six months, so maybe this is one treatment to try in the winter!

Is it for me?

Skin Rejuvenation can be used to treat any area on the body that’s been damaged by sunlight or affected by premature ageing. Mainly used to treat the face, neck, chest, hands and forearms, the treatment removes fine lines, reduces wrinkles, diminishes sun damage and helps eliminate pre-cancerous areas and uneven pigmentation.

If you’re expecting a baby boom anytime soon this treatment is vetoed, and if you’re taking photosensitising drugs or you’re prone to cold sores, you’ll need to prep for the procedure properly.

Good to know

The results of Skin Rejuvenation can last for many years if you undergo top-up treatments every 6 to 12 months, but it all depends on your individual ageing process and your degree of sun exposure, so make sure you start slathering on that sunscreen!
